For the love of PEEPS

I'm gonna let you in on a secret...I am one of those people who are obsessed with PEEPS. I personally like mine a little on the slightly stale side so you get that great crunch...and just so you know, Nevada is such a dry climate, that usually means about 20 mins after opening the package.  Have you seen th cute new colors this year?  Green...woo hoo...and that orange is a perfect shade of peach. I just opened my email from Fancy Flours and found this...

I fell in love {AGAIN} with a font.  I just thought it was gorgeous. It reminded me of the pretty little letters you can find handrawn on Lauren's blog A FABULOUS FETE.

I swore I had seen this new font somewhere...or it was yet another pretty handrawn font ::sigh::, but I couldn't find it. I decided to just ask nicely. It's amazing how wonderful the blog community is. Samantha (of style/SWOON) was sweet, lovely and made me love her blog more because she kindly sent me a link to the font.  Thank you Samantha for being so super amazing! I am proud to introduce ANTROKAS over on dafont.com. It's free, and a medium quality, but for labels and such, it works beautifully. Especially, because my calligraphy skills need a smidge more work...

This book is full of gorgeous recipes and inspiration.  It just moved to #1 on my NEED list. **It's a big book so it wouldn't have fit in the suitcase...otherwise it would be mine.

Pop of Color

I am obsessed with color lately.  Especially, bright color ways. I love RICE DK. I want to order their entire line of mismatched vibrant unbreakable loveliness. I keep seeing little pieces pop up all over (look at that green!!! eek!)  I finally got the big break in my hunt...Thank you, again, Pinterest and fab pinner Alyssa Best from whom I spied those cute little cake forks below.

60 is Sweet

 As a craft writer, there is no greater joy then having you lovelies make my goodies and EXCEL at it. I was delighted this weekend when Melissa and Kellie of Icing Designs sent me this party from their client for a very sweet 60th birthday party.  I saw the photos of the gorgeous garlands made by Katie and honestly I did a "WOOHOO" right there in the kitchen, because I was so excited that it looked exactly like one I would make.  I am so proud of her and super happy my DIY works! But now, on to more prettiness...

 

 Here is the party description from Melissa and Kellie:   
Katie came to us (Icing Designs: hand-illustrated and hand-glittered party goods)
a couple of months ago for us to create a illustration for her mom's upcoming 60th birthday party! Her mom is an artist and loves all things vintage, ruffles, flowers and anything Anthropologie inspired. So we did a custom illustration of a woman in an Anthropologie inspired outfit painting a "60" on to her 6 tiered flowery birthday cake! 
We made 5x8 note cards with the hand-glittered illustration off to the side that read "60 Sweet Years! As we celebrate Judi's 60th year, these are the memories I hold most dear!" Katie used these to send to all of her mom's closest friends and family, so that they could write their fondest memories and Katie created a book for mom with all of the cards!

We also made some really fun hand-glittered cupcake flags using the illustration, a printed illustration to frame and a hand-glittered letter garland that read, "60 Sweet Years"! Katie made French Macarons, beautiful cookies and the mini ruffle cakes! 

She also made the gorgeous ruffle garland (following the hank + hunt DIY tutorial) that hung from the ceiling over the dessert table. Her sister, Becky, of Becky Hill Photography, beautifully photographed the event. We were just blown away with what an amazing job Katie and her sister did with their mom’s special party! 

Thank you so much to Katie and Becky for making an incredible party! Great job on the garlands, Katie! A big THANK YOU to the lovely Melissa and Kellie for not only sharing this little bit of lovely, but for having a pretty little shop, too!

Goodie, Goodie Garland...

 Happy St. Patrick's Day! As I was searching for some lovely little green garland to post today, I found this darling felt treat. I really like the clean modern fringe of this. But as always with my searches, I find more goodies...

How cute is this garland? Can you imagine the different color combinations? How pretty would all cream or white look in a tree with lights on a summer evening?  I love how the tulle makes a color-burst explosion.

I am a firm believer that materials make a typical item, say a party item, above and beyond amazing.  This adorable little shop SHORTCAKE offers pom pom garlands, wands (eek! I need a little girl) and picks made of tulle.  (personally dying over peach tones lately)
 

It's one of those wonderful goodies that just makes me happy. I am always amazed at the creativity that pops out of Etsy, and this lovely little shop is a perfect example. Loving the black...

Have I ever told you the story about one of the reasons I started a blog? I saw Brittany's blog, One Charming Party. It was one of the first blogs I ever followed. I was in awe.  I was inspired. I couldn't believe someone could make kid's parties this gorgeous.  Simple, modern with perfect attention to detail.  She showed parties that were thoughtful, creative and had nothing to do with mass-marketing.  She opened my eyes that beautiful children's parties are possible and I've never been the same since. I feel kind of silly saying all this out loud, since I know Brittany and Sara will read this, but these girls ROCK.  If you didn't believe me already, let me tell you, they both not only met Martha, but were invited to be on the show.
