Ok, so I am crazy excited about this...I've been talking about switching to a real blog for.like.ever. Just ask my brother or Sharon! They are probably thinking...finally! Well, I am pleased to announce the all new, all awesome HANK + HUNT. Hooray! Here is a little peek, but starting with the FONT FRIDAY post today...all new content will be added to the new SITE.  This is the last post here, but I will keep everything prior, so all those older links to content will remain active.

I owe a huge THANK YOU to Kerry of PAPER DAHLIA for her awesome branding and design advice. She is amazing and she can help you, too. I want to thank my brother for all his support and help getting the .com off the ground, I love you and I could never have done it without you. I also want to thank my biggest cheerleader, Sharon of CUPCAKES AND CUTLERY, for just being plain AMAZING and the greatest friend I've ever met on this crazy blogging journey.

Real Party: Shannon

 

Keaton's Party, a black white and green masterpiece, is a chic little kids party by Shannon over on WHAT'S UP WHIMSY **A must read blog with all kinds of design goodness** Shannon used Hank + Hunt GREEN FELT FLAGS for an accent in a party styled after my own heart.  {I especially love this because in the new blog, it's all black, white and green...SWOON} She made cute little green garlands from Sharon's tutorial, that remind me, I've GOT to make these for my next shindig....

I adore the use of one color that pops against a black and white sea.  Can I just say that it is so sweetly simple, but cool with all the things that I love in a party?  Giant round balloons held down with black animals...am I the only one going gaga over this idea? How perfect, something CUTE to tie down those behemoths, so you don't have to tie it to the table, right?  It turns out so MUCH cuter this way.

I am speechless about this little table topper called astroturf...TOTALLY.FREAKIN'.GENIUS.

Yes, it's true.  We are moving a few states over so things will be a bit quiet over here.  Just too much to do and not enough time.  I will be posting randomly as my DIYs pop up here and there and when I just find something AMAZING.  Coming next week...be sure to go check out my Surplus Shop, filled to the brim with some fabulous party props, goodies and garland that I just ran out of room for.  Some have never been used, some only for prop shoots.  Great bargains to be had...really.

Garland DIYs

Hello Lovelies! I made the crazy decision at the last minute to NOT bring my laptop on our little adventure to visit the inlaws.  So, if you've been wondering where I am... But, I had to pop on and share this little lovely with you. Sharon, of Cupcakes and Cutlery, sent me a preview after she made a tester of this lovely little garland. It was amazing!  It's totally weather proof, which is hard to find in the party world...rain, wind...bring it ON! Of course, since it's from Sharon it's mega freaking awesome! Oh, did I mention you can make oodles for like a BUCK? Go see her lovely DIY HERE!

Little bits of AWESOME (and GIVEAWAYS GALORE)

First course of business.  You might have noticed I haven't given my full focus this week...I shot (and reshot) the beginnings of my printie collection for the shop.  Hooray for printies! aka Printables.  I've been meaning to share these with you for a bit...but various technical difficulties...needless to say, the printies are here! (Notice the fab cupcake stand I bribed my hubby to make me, yes my hunk made that from a hunk of metal for me...and now YOU)

SHOP HANK + HUNT

My entire inspiration for the collection is simplicity.  After hunting fabric shops and papery stores, and never finding the right sized gingham or stripe in that certain shade I wanted...I figured I could just make it.  So I did. Simple and modern colorways, in plain pretty patterns, ready to mix and match. The awesomest (so not a word I know...) part is that now, I have patterns that can be any shade or tint or mulit-color WE want. Period. I didn't want to provide more children's printables, there are experts in that loveliness (LOVE THE DAY and ANDERS RUFF) or more gorgeous wedding suites (BLUSH PRINTABLES and GO AGAINST THE GRAIN), still already experts in that field of loveliness...I just wanted simple ones.  Little bits to accent the already fabulous plethora of printables. 

There are two sizes.  Cupcake and Mini pages (above).  The cupcake page comes with 12 standard cupcake topper flags and 6 pennant shape flags.  Mini comes with teeny little cupcake topper flags, one big bunting shape, and six little bunting shapes.  Mix and match the two to make garlands or double them up on extra tall sticks.  At $5 a pop...you could have them ALL.

Alrighty...The ONLY reget from my own personal wedding, was not hiring a photographer.  We had a friend fo the family who was technically a photographer and it was...ok.  I think one of the most importante elements of a great day is hiring a photographer that KNOWS the awesomeness that you want to capture...SO...I'm always a bit jealous when I see fabulous wedding pictures.  I was amazed when I saw these little stills of loveliness over on Postcards and Pretties. SHOP UPDATE - NEW ADDITIONS

Hello! I hope your weekend was wonderful.  I was very productive with only a few set backs.  I might have killed a computer...ok, yeah. I killed it, so I have no new printables for the shop. I almost cried.  Ok, yeah. I did cry. The goodies to come are fabulous! I am tooting my own horn and I LOVE them.  I have an ikat pattern and a Missoni insired flame stitch pattern, as well as gingham, stripes (vertical, horizontal AND diagonal,) and they are all wonderful.  Sitting pretty on my d drive...that I can't get to right now...because I killed it.

But today is not lost...I just uploaded a bunch of the felt flags and toppers in the shop, complete with swanky new banner.  So, go have a look-see, enjoy and stay tuned because there are lots more to come...

Fall Inspiration over at Go Against the Grain

Two weeks ago, I was part of a fall inspiration shoot with Laurel of Go Against the Grain.  I was really excited to try out a new design for this.  I made some chair garlands for the rustic table.  These garlands are 3 inches wide and a very ruffled style, similar to the FANCY edition garland.  These chair garlands were made of chunky linen like muslin and had double ties of thick satin ribbon on each end so you can tie big bows.  I love how they turned out and will finally have these lovelies up in the shop this week. The chair garlands are 1.5 feet long, enough to let you have a little bit of a drape on the back of the chair. 

I am really excited about the rich colors in this tablescape and have been craving chocolate cake ever since.  Dying for the tree slice and I am loving the trend towards flags on cakes.

 I love the wrap around the beverage jar.  Doilies for fall? Yes, pretty please!

I love these for snacks.  Elevate the everyday snack to party perfection.

Pretty fall palette for favors and a dessert tier tower I am drooling over.  (Laurel sells them and I am so ordering one this week!)

 I figured I must not be the only one with new designs around and  it has been a while,so off I went to my favorite mall...Etsy.  Well, not technically a mall, it is a shopping center of handmade lovelies, and I could browse for hours...and its the first place I go when looking for a present or party goodie.

A TO Z LETTER GARLAND

Larger, Fluffier Garland...oh my!

I have been working with a bride for her custom order of garland.  Ms. Melany suggested a larger width, so when you see the garlands together it they would be visually interesting. What. A. Fantastic. Idea.  My friend Ms. Bina, also mentioned that she was picturing the garland fluffier. My original inspiration was for crepe paper streamer style garland, where you can see the twists.  I am still new at this.  I am learning as I go.  I think both together is totally fabulous!

This new guy is 3" in diameter, and I increased the ruffle so its a bit fluffier.  The larger size accentuates the fluffy.  See the pics of it compared to the smaller 2" size.  Lovely. 

I have only made samples of this guy, but will definately have it at the Taylor Street Market.  Which I am a "sneak peek" for the fair here. 

birthday garland - fit for a "Superstar"

My friend Ms. Bina, has a very close friend, Ms. Superstar.  I have only met her a couple of times, but have you ever met someone who just makes you smile before you even talk to them?  Or have you seen some person standing in a coffee shop, and they, some stranger, just brighten your day?  In my crazy rebellious days in high school I had this book about what color your aura is.  I can't even remember what mine was, I always retook the test because I didn't agree with the answer, it was probably right, I think with my infinite middle-aged wisdom, ha ha ha. Anyways, the color of your aura.  People that puppies and babies are drawn to.  People you feel instantly comfortable with.  People that bring sunshine where ever they land.  That's what Ms. Superstar does, and it was her birthday on Saturday. Happy Birthday Ms. Superstar!  I made these garlands for her party based on her favorite color being red.  I just hope she'll like them, they really don't have as much red in them as I originally wanted but they remind me of her.  Happy, fun, sweet...like sunshine.

packaging etc...

Packaging. I think the hardest part about a business is not the product itself.  It's all the other stuff.  Business cards, packaging, shop set up, and marketing, don't even get me started on Facebook and Flickr.  I haven't been posting about all the little cute things I have found because every second I have goes to playing around with Illustrator, Photoshop and then cheating occasionally (ok alot) with PowerPoint.  I have made my first sale. Yippee!  I was super excited, and then I realized I still had to finalize my designs for my packaging. Eeek! They were all there, but I had about 3 different options.  As much as I would love to farm it out to the oodles of talented designers out there or even just kinkos for printing, its just not in the budget.  Its just me, and although its much harder (with a learning curve that looks like a circle), when I finish, it is immensely satisfying. PS, I love kraft paper almost as much as muslin, can you tell?
