WHAT TIME IS IT?

I will admit, sometimes I am lost with my first born.  For example, while hearing for the seventieth time, what time is it?  I realize...ooohhhh, I'm supposed to teach you how to read a clock. Big time mommy duh.  Which is also not the word to say out loud to yourself, because if you say it enough, your short people will gleefully chime in, also.

But, after coming to the realization that I need to teach time, I went looking for a printable.  Just a simple one...yet all I could find were terribly hideous versions.  Really? Why is it when you make something for kids or about them it has to look like bad kids' handwriting.  All the preschool forms came home like that.  Um, my kid isn't going to read it...can I get a decent font? or at least a plain one? Don't even get me started on the clip art.  Anyhoo, I was reminded of the lack of graphic designers in the school system as I cruised the "educational" blogs and printables for teachers. I finally became so disappointed, that I made my own.  Which took like 5 mins total, and I probably could have done from the start, instead of spending all that time looking.  Oh well.  I give you a very plain, simple, no comic sans in sight, printable clock in two colors.

Print on cardstock, trim the edges off around the clock, cut out the hands, punch a hole in the ends and attach to the clock with a brad.  Voila.

Oh, and I just made a little coloring page version, for those little ones who love to color!

LAUREN {PALM PAPERS}
KERRY {SUPER SWOON}

A BIG Welcome to new Font Friday friend, VICKI of CURLY WILLOW DIY.

Before I list my font pick for you today, I thought I'd include a little glimpse into YARD SALE mania.  As you know, because I've told you a bazillion times, we just moved. Our new house has incredible storage, which I intend to utilize to the fullest extent.  So, for the benefit to some lucky folks in the Seattle area, it means a bunch of goodies for cheap.  Here's my flyer, which I will be printing on hot pink and neon orange signage. I am experimenting with the idea that it's not your typical garage sale.
I hope it brings a lot of people who don't typically stop at garage sales on their way to do errands.  People like me, always on the lookout for the "good stuff."  We'll see.  I might just get bored and jump ship at noon...
Here's a run down of fonts used: {in order of appearance}
BEBAS
AMERICAN TYPEWRITER
BLACKOUT
CONFERENCE CALL
MARKETING SCRIPT

My font friday pick didn't make the cut even though it is super cool.  {get it? super...}

SUPERPOIS by studiocharlie over on MyFonts is just perfect.  I had to think about a chance of intermittent showers in the forecast and chose not to include it.  I favored bold and easy to read for the flyer.

On invitations or banners though, wouldn't this just be perfect?  I love the shape of the letters, very clean and modern.  In perfect little round dots, saving anyone the heartache of creating these from scratch.  I've loved LEARNING CURVE and PRINT CLEARLY, both available in dashed versions,  for a long time, so SUPERPOIS will be a welcome addition to my font roll. studiocharlie has quite a few SUPER-fonts, so be sure to go check them out!

Oh- if you'd like to have a similar yard sale...here's the PDF to download HERE.

Hello? Are you still there?

I have been MIA the last two weeks darlings and I apologize.  My posts are not as fabulous as they should be. My excuses:
It was Thanksgiving. K' thats a given.  Ours was small and lovely.  I cooked, cheated a bit, but ultimately rocked it out.  And...I didn't forget to make stuffing, like I might have done last year.

But then it was my birthday this past weekend.  Look at the pretty party in a box Sharon sent me!  My pictures are terrible because it was already dark when I put them up. Ok, so this is two posts in a row I claim bad lighting. I live in NV and the sun sets here faster than on the coast, people, Tahoe and the Sierras...nuff said. ***Sharon, my pictures all turned out really bad and didn't showcase how cute everything was in real life...and the candy/snack bar didn't last long, yes, the main person eating it when I was taking pictures was me, I should have excersized restraint, but it was my birthday and "I do what I waunt..." I loved it.  Thank you so much!!!***

I have also been working on a baby shower that my lovely sis-n-law is throwing this weekend.

I am pretty pleased and had so much fun doing it I am figuring on adding printies to the lineup over at the shop. I am debating...do I do a whole separate shop called "Hank + Hunt Printables" or just a new section? I am leaning towards the new section.  That way if anyone felt like buying a garland, they could with one final checkout.  Easy peasy.

So, I am sorry for the delay.  I have lots of goodies lined up, a DIY (of the pretty garland she sent me above) and a inspiration board from Sharon, a DIY I'm working on for over on Valley & Co., a bunch of little goodies and my GIFT GUIDE tomorrow.  Ok, its a regular post, but its got great stuff in it. As in I deliberately checked every magazine I own, which is a stack a mile high this month, to make sure I couldn't find them on other gift guides.  PS. I still have a few online ones to check...which I will list tomorrow too.

PS I also made these instead of a birthday cake.  Seven layer cookies via Smitten Kitchen

So, yes, for the first time in 33 years, I didn't eat chemical frosting for my birthday.  And I am okay with that. It's going to be a fantastic year. These were perfect and pretty easy to make, really.  The assembly is the only hard part, if you are slightly OCD like I might be. But,  I want to remake these without the colors and white chocolate coating.  YUM.  That is coming soon, too.

Super Quick Advent Calendar Printable

Hello Lovelies!  I just made this little countdown this afternoon because I completely lost track of time and never made the gorgeous one I have in my dreams...for the second year running.   I was incredibly inspired by the pretty little countdown over on Potter and Butler yesterday using her fabulous gracious garland.
...now I have a little calendar countdown set of cute little ornaments and its easy and you can whip one out right now.  Easy peasy.  I made it for my 2 3/4' round punch because I don't like cutting circles.  I tried the circle cutter today and jabbed myself in the finger putting the tip on.  Ouch.  So, I added few more pages so the circles had more space for punching.  Punch each number out.  Punch a hole on top.  Run some thread and voila- 24 mini ornaments ready for countdown.  It's our first year doing this tradition, so I had to bat the boys away from putting ALL of them up at once.  I had the card holder, but you could also just string a piece of twine or ribbon and line them up with clothespins across the walls.  More pictures coming tomorrow, my light is already gone today.  But if you make this (or Emily's) tonight, you are still perfectly on schedule.  Enjoy.

Get your countdown HERE. Get Emily's prettier and more sophisticated one here.

WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY - love the day

This is a special treat. This should be a Wonderful Week of WOW-inducing eyecandy. But today for Wonderful Wednesday I am pleased to bring you Lindi of love the day. I love Lindi, and by the end of this post, you will, too.

Love the day is an incredible design shop on Etsy. She is amazingly talented. Her ready-made designs are fantastic. Her choices of colors, impeccable. “Print, cut, party.”

 Easy Peasy.

How cute are these little hats??

Pretty.  Easy. Pretty AND easy. (my kind of party)

But there is more.

She does custom…like custom everything. She offers FREE printies around the best spots on the web (which I may or may not stalk…) She styles parties. I die. This one was just released this week. (Disclaimer: yes, my garlands are in it, and she styled them so amazingly I cried…really, but shhh don’t tell anyone or it might ruin my tough gal…er…ok. Nevermind. I cried from the beautiful styling. Out of sheer joy. I love her. But that’s not why she is here.)

Lindi is a wonderful, kind and super sweet lady filled to the brim with many gorgeous talents. This is her daughter’s party. If I had a girl…this is perfect. Heck, I have two boys. It’s still perfect…now to find me a little girl to randomly throw a party for… Hundreds of butterflies. Little lovelies everywhere. Pretty darn perfect.

I honestly could write about pages and pages of how amazing this little lady is...Now, for the good stuff...I would love to introduce you to the LOVELY Lindi.

Here are her wonderful answers to my favorite questions.

1. As a printable designer, you have a wide range of styles in your portfolio. I love your versatility and ability to pick the perfect “fit” for the event. What 3 things most inspire you?

I find inspiration everywhere, especially from all the other amazingly talented party bloggers! But if I had to choose three things it would be:

funky color palates
unique shapes
and fun patterns

2. Not only can you make lovely printies, you are incredible at prop styling. What is your favorite thing to do?

Ahh, thanks Jenny. You are so cute. I am so torn between my love for designing printable party materials and actually styling a party. I love that moment when you find the perfect something to base your party inspiration on. Like the butterflies in the butterfly party. Once I saw those, my mind went crazy with fun ideas! But then again, I love starting with a blank screen and creating a design based on customer needs. I don't know, I love both!

3. How/why did you start your shop?

I owe starting my shop to my mom. As a fabric designer, she is always inspiring and encouraging me to take new risk and seek new opportunities. She helped me create Love The Day and is my daily business consultant/manager. I couldn't do it without her!

4. I LOVE your incredible Butterfly Party. It’s so gloriously girly and pretty. What was your inspiration?

It was those butterflies for sure! I found them (500 of them!!) 75% off at a craft store. They were white and just perfect. I knew with a little spray paint, they would look amazing hanging from my daughter's favorite tree. Then pair the butterflies with your ruffle garlands...lovely! I was so excited when I found them.

5. Tell us your FAVORITES…

COLOR? Favorite color! Ahh that's the hardest question so far! I LOVE color and am always inspired by new color combinations. You can ask my mom, I always drove her crazy as a teen because I would come down ready for school in the funkiest colors I could find. Burnt orange defines my High School career. But right now, today.....I'm loving coral.

PARTY GOODIE/DECOR? Why your ruffles of course. I'm not even kidding.

**INSERT ME BLUSHING HERE** See gratuitous garland shot above**

SECRET SOURCE FOR PARTY GOODIES? Don't judge, but I get almost ALL my party goods from the local thrift store. I get this crazy rush from turning something old and not loved into something beautiful and cherished. The butterfly party was 98% thrifted (the linens, china, flowers, etc..).

SOURCES: See more of her party on her blog (and at an increasing number of major blogs on the web)
